AliceWeb is a third party product that works with release
11b of Alice System 2.1.
Publication is accomplished in two simple
steps:
- Export the data you wish to publish using Alex, the Alice data export
program. The data may be an entire database or a selected sub-set of data.
- Use AliceWeb to automatically convert the exported data into a linked set of
web pages.
AliceWeb generates appropriate navigation links to facilitate data searching.
Images may also be integrated into the pages using a separate utility.
Examples:
- A sub-set, the sub-family Calameae,
from an Alice database of Rattan Palms of South East Asia. This was developed
at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew by Dr John Dransfield a world expert on Palms.
This web includes photographs and line drawings and demonstrates the use of descriptors.
- For an excellent example of how a complex
web can be generated using AliceWeb visit Acesso
as Bases de Dados do CNIP at the CNIP web site.
